Position Summary

In liaison with COFACE Director and team members, the Project and Advocacy Officer will be in charge of coordinating the dissemination work package of DigiGen, a 3-year European research project on the impact of digital transformations on children and youth funded by Horizon2020. The officer will carry out a mix of communication, policy and advocacy activities, building bridges between the DigiGen research results and different policy frameworks (social, educational, health, and online safety) and target audiences at national and European level. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in an international, inspiring and friendly workplace in Brussels, Belgium.

 

 

Main responsibilities

  • Coordinate DigiGen dissemination and communication activities (including building the visual identity of DigiGen, issuing regular e-newsletters & media releases, working with journalists).
  • Liaise regularly with the DigiGen project coordinator as well as researchers from 8 countries (Austria, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Norway, Romania, Spain, UK).
  • Liaise with COFACE members across different countries, consolidating and expanding internal networks on the topic of digital families.
  • Support the design, development and management of the DigiGen website.
  • Build online DigiGen communities on social media networks like Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat.
  • Building and maintaining databases of different target audiences.
  • Organise meetings national and European stakeholders (policy-makers, NGOs, industry).
  • Support the preparation of DigiGen policy briefs based on the research outcomes.
  • Contribute to advocacy strategies and consolidate relations with EU/international institutions and agencies.
  • Organise the final conference of DigiGen in Brussels in 2022.
  • Help build a framework to manage and evaluate the societal and scientific impact of DigiGen.
  • Develop a post-project strategy to ensure lasting DigiGen impact through use of different tools (videos, trainings, networks).
  • Regular travel within Europe will be required.

 

Skills and qualifications required

  • Master’s degree in communications, journalism, political sciences, EU affairs, or any related fields and at least 3 years’ relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of Horizon2020 online platforms and administrative processes.
  • Strong interest in the impact of digitalisation on the lives of children and families.
  • Experience and knowledge of EU affairs and working with EU institutions.
  • Good knowledge of FP7 or Horizon2020 projects.
  • Capacity to organise and manage high quality events with diverse audiences.
  • Ability to think strategically, excellent interpersonal and diplomatic skills, interest in proactive networking and a problem-solving attitude are essential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English. Additional languages are a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of a wide-range of communication tools.
  • Excellent writing skills, ability to make complex messages accessible to different target groups.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a small team.
  • Ability to manage a complex workload, to plan and prioritise.

 

Offer

  • Contract: For 3 years on legal basis of a permanent contract (Contrat à Durée Indéterminée), part-time (32h/week).
  • Salary between €2500-€3000 gross/month, depending on experience and qualifications, plus benefits (13th month, luncheon vouchers, pension scheme, generous leaves, flexible work arrangements and more).
