The Government of Malta announced that it was setting up new job centres for migrants so that they will not have to resort to the streets for work. The future job centres will act as job brokerage. This was confirmed in a recent conference organised by three Maltese MEPs on Living with Migration, with particular emphasis on the impact of migration on the labour market. The conference also discussed how such initiative will help curb abuse of migrants and regularise their employment, and barriers migrants are facing to find jobs suiting their qualifications.
Social partners welcomed this initiative and called for a register of employment to limit abuses
