19/11/2015 – 20/11/2015 — The European Anti-Poverty Network (EAPN) was organising a European meeting on Social Convergence in the EU on 19 and 20 November in Brussels with people experiencing poverty.
The meeting was part of the process of civil dialogue launched by the European Commission in October. It was an opportunity to consult with people experiencing poverty to gather their input on policies to foster social convergence in Europe to strengthen the participation of people experiencing poverty in policies that affect them.
The meeting provided an open space for discussion and exchange also among the different delegations from Member States. As previous meetings of this kind, the meeting played an important role in driving the development of the direct participation of people experiencing poverty.
Around 180 participants attended, including
- people experiencing poverty,
- representatives of national governments and EU institutions, European and national NGOs,
- academics.
This event was organised by the European Anti-Poverty Network (EAPN) with the financial support of the European Commission and in association with the Luxembourg Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

This 3mn video gives a good insight into the Strategic Dialogue Meeting with European Meeting of People experiencing Poverty in November 2015. Delegations of people experiencing poverty from 30 European countries came to exchange their views and experiences with EU officials and other policy makers. Participants were asked to provide input on policies to support social convergence in the EU.
The meeting was organized in Brussels at the Halles des Tanneurs by the European Anti-Poverty Network (EAPN) with the support of the European Commission, the Luxembourg Presidency of the Council of the European Union and the EAPN Fund.
