The Director will lead Free Movement Skateboarding, ensuring the organisation sustainably delivers its mission: promoting wellbeing, empowerment and social cohesion through skateboarding for disadvantaged young people, including refugees, girls, and those with learning disabilities. You don’t have to be a skateboarder to work with us, but you do have to have a passion for our work!
This is an energetic, hands-on leadership role in a grassroots organisation for a mission-focussed, passionate individual. The Director will have oversight and varying degrees of involvement across the organisation, in fundraising, finances, reporting, governance, team culture, communications and strategic alignment, while practising accountable and transparent leadership.
The role combines leadership and growth with organisational development, including strengthening governance, decision-making structures and collaboration between the team and trustees as the organisation grows. Candidates should bring both leadership and organisational change skills. The role requires listening carefully to the team, involving them meaningfully in day-to-day decisions, and ensuring their perspectives are represented clearly and honestly from the trustee meetings to session delivery.
