Movement on the Ground is looking for an experienced education professional to support young adult refugees living in our Athens campUs to achieve their learning and personal development goals.
The Athens campUs is an accommodation and integration programme for recognised refugees aged 18-24, offering vulnerable young people a place to stay during the crucial transition into adulthood. During their stay, participants receive integrated care and support from staff based on-site, from social and pastoral care, to education, training and employment guidance, to support with societal integration and financial independence.
The Education and Personal Development Coordinator will work with fellow campUs staff to develop and execute personalised learning plans for each participant, including language and digital skills education, social and life skills development, and vocational and technical training, depending on the needs and desires of the individual. The right candidate will be energetic, flexible and compassionate, effective at motivating and inspiring each individual to grow and learn, and tailoring services and opportunities to foster a successful journey into independence for young refugees embarking on adult life in Greece.

MOTG is an international non-profit humanitarian organisation working across multiple continents to fight for and establish more dignified reception for refugees fleeing violence, persecution and climate disaster. Our Camp to campUs approach is a holistic and collaborative way of working that integrates community participation, sustainability, cost-efficiency and adaptability. At MOTG, we don’t simply deliver aid and care to vulnerable recipients, we are facilitators, creating the conditions and the space for the communities to empower themselves and contribute as active participants, both to dignifying reception conditions and enriching the economic and social fabric of host countries.
Key tasks:
- Developing personalised learning plans with each campUs participant, and working with the individual execute on those plans through in-house and external learning opportunities
- Working with in-house Greek language teachers (staff and volunteer) to deliver on-site classes, develop curricula and monitor progress of participants
- Producing regular on-site seminars (including through collaboration with external providers) covering life skills topics, health and wellbeing, social and cultural integration, and digital and vocational skills development
- Creating opportunities for cultural learning and integration, such as organising cultural and historical visits and meetings with local community members
- Working cooperatively with other programme staff to ensure the wellbeing and progress of residents, joining regular update meetings and participating in individual check-ins where necessary
- Acting as focal point for external education actors, such as NGOs, public schools and other training providers; leading on registration of campUs residents to public schools, including liaison with school and Ministry of Education staff where necessary
- Developing and applying monitoring tools to assess the impact and quality of campUs education services, for use in evaluation & development, fundraising and donor reporting
- Managing the procurement of education supplies across the project
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related human services field
- Full verbal and written fluency in both Greek and English language
- At least 3 years’ experience in:
- A direct teaching role in a school or other education/training provider, OR
- An education commissioning or coordination role (for example, organising the education activities of an NGO)
- Strong organisational and interpersonal skills; ability to motivate and inspire young people from diverse cultural backgrounds; a proactive problem-solver; an initiative-taker; a creative, flexible thinker comfortable working in dynamic, changing and sometimes uncertain environments
- Embody the MOTG mindset: be kind, compassionate, committed and driven to achieve change on behalf of those fleeing conflict and persecution
- Commitment to and understanding of safeguarding, protection principles, and ethical conduct when working with vulnerable populations
- Work permit in Greece and clean Criminal Record
Desirable Additional Qualities
- Experience in the humanitarian field, specifically refugee reception and integration services
- Direct Greek language teaching experience
- Proficiency in Arabic, Farsi, Somali or French
