Association for Social Development and Aid Mobilization (ASAM) established in 1995, is an independent, impartial and non-profit association to assist all vulnerable groups within Türkiye, including refugees and asylum seekers. ASAM focuses on cross cutting issues of the vulnerable individuals and communites in order to achieve its main vision, where vulnerabilities transform into strengths, and every individual enjoys a life of dignity, security, equity and opportunity.
ASAM Greece, established in 2016 as a representative office of ASAM in Athens, registered as a local NGO with the mandate of capitalizing on ASAM’s background and track record for the benefit of the refugees, migrants and other vulnerable individuals.
Within the framework of our ongoing/upcoming project, we are looking for a teammate for the role of “Community Facilitator” to be assigned full time basis with one year-contract in ASAM Greece in Athens with the following key responsibilities and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide culturally sensitive interpretation (Arabic–Greek or Arabic–English) during individual and group sessions, including mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), social services and community meetings.

Conduct outreach and mobilize individuals from the community to participate in ASAM’s group sessions, information events and other activities.

Assist with translation, interpretation and cultural mediation in person or via phone communication with beneficiaries and/or relevant stakeholders.

Help identify community needs, trends, and protection risks through informal discussions and community feedback

Co-facilitate group discussions, psychosocial support sessions and community-building activities alongside ASAM staff.

Assist with data collection, session attendance and feedback forms, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.

Participate in reflection and team meetings to share community insights and support continuous improvement of ASAM’s activities.

Provide timely updates to the line manager about community concerns, implementation challenges or suggestions for improvement.

Ensure all activities are implemented with respect for ASAM’s safeguarding and data protection policies.

Perform other related duties as assigned by the line manager or relevant ASAM staff.
General Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in translation, humanities, social sciences, or a comparable mix of education, training, and relevant work experience is preferred.

Fluency in Arabic (native or professional)

Fluency and good working level in English and/or Greek.

Minimum two-year professional experience as a cultural mediator , interpreter or a similar position.

Experience in co-facilitating/interpreting group discussions at the community level, and psychosocial support and protection-related activities is considered a strong asset.

Strong interpersonal, communication, listening and observation skills, including ability to create trust, support and respect.

Experience working with vulnerable groups.

Understanding of the refugee and migrant context in Greece.

Ability to effectively use computer tools (Windows, Google Workspace, etc)
